Description

Sage – BIO essential oil

Sage is a small semi-shrub with grayish leaves and blue-purple flowers. Its name »salvia« comes from the Latin word »salvere«, which means to save or heal. This indicates the deep respect the Romans had for sage, for whom its harvesting was a sacred ritual. It is traditionally considered an herb used to soothe sore and painful throats.

In aromatherapy, it is used to freshen a room. Through warm compresses, inhalations and gargling, we relieve problems with the throat and vocal cords, and with mouthwash we strengthen the gums and oral cavity. It helps to relax muscle spasms and alleviate the symptoms of menopause and PMS. In cosmetics, it is used in anti-cellulite preparations and in shampoos against oily hair and dandruff.
