Eucalyptus essential oil (CT Eucalyptus globulus)

The eucalyptus tree originates from Australia and Tasmania, where it is also known as the blue rubber tree. It is often used to drain swampy areas because its deep roots absorb huge amounts of water, which then evaporates through the leaves. The leathery leaves are interwoven with veins, from which the essential oil is extracted.

In aromatherapy, eucalyptus oil is valued for its antiseptic properties. It is beneficial for colds and respiratory problems. In cosmetics, it is used to care for impure skin and against dandruff. It is also a common ingredient in massage oils, as it has an invigorating effect and helps relax tired muscles. Its scent acts as a natural insect repellent. It is often used in Finnish saunas and for air freshening.
