The homeland of the Damask rose is the Orient, and roses were also an integral part of Roman culture. During feasts, rose petals were sprinkled on the floor, and drowsiness was chased away with Damask rose water. Avicenna, a philosopher and physician from the 10th century, said that rose oil increases brain capacity and accelerates the speed of thinking.
Today, rose oil is one of the most valuable oils, known for its wide spectrum of action and indispensable in the perfume industry. It has an astringent effect on the skin (prevents inflammatory reactions on the skin and its sensitivity to external influences), has a mild antimicrobial effect, and nourishes dry, mature and sensitive skin. The scent of rose soothes, relaxes and lifts the mood.
