Valedrion essential oil

Valedrion, also known as medicinal spiderwort, has always been used as a natural aid for mental distress and restless nights. Many pharmaceutical preparations are made from its dried root (valerian drops, calming tea).

Steam distillation of the root produces its essential oil, which is also used in aromatherapy to calm and relieve restlessness, stress, and sleep disorders. Due to its extremely intense scent and powerful effect, it is used in low concentrations. In cosmetics, valerian oil is used against dandruff and for the care of very dry skin. Alcoholic beverage manufacturers add it to beer and liqueurs.
